Confronted with the prospect of being forced to retire into civilian obscurity, three Air Force generals concoct a plan to secure lucrative consulting jobs by staging a terrorism exercise on a top secret military complex. However, when real terrorists attack the complex in hopes of stealing experimental biological weapons on the exact same day, it’s up to a misfit group of airmen to stop them before the Pentagon has a chance to clean up the mess - permanently. AIM HIGH is a fast paced, comical, and quirky parody of espionage and counter-terrorism novels - complete with biological and nuclear weapons, vengeful spies, scheming wives, jilted lovers, a shortchanged pizza delivery man, and a host of other colorful characters whose lives come to a twisted intersection at a highly classified weapons facility that stands atop a drained swamp in New Jersey.

Aim High Devin Kerins Books

I wasn't sure what to expect from Aim High. I had read Devin's earlier (non-fiction) books of EMS stories, so I didn't know if he could pull me in with a work of fiction. As soon as I started I was taken by surprise by the ridiculous and quirky characters that somehow managed managed to avoid being stupid. Think "The Office" vs "Reno 911." Okay, maybe a little Reno 911 sometimes, but in a good way.

The book quickly drew me in and I became quite engrossed. I like Tom Clancy, and comparisons are legit. Aim High doesn't bog down in the details like Clancy does, though. This is a breezy, fun read. I couldn't put it down. It definitely does a great job of building to a action-packed climax.

Being from New Jersey I especially appreciated all the Jersey settings. The sequel just came out and I'm going to buy it now. I can hardly wait.

Aim High Devin Kerins Books Reviews

Pure fiction. Pure fun. You will find yourself laughing and enjoying this book. Third time is a charm, as they say. Well done, sir.
Aim High is a high-speed, non-stop satirical romp that brilliantly skewers the most brutally inefficient, non sequitur ridiculous, and obliviously hypocritical aspects of governmental bureaucracy. Although Author Devin Kerins' crafts a captivatingly biting criticism of the US Air Force specifically, he weaves a tapestry of unabashed military industrial derision that leaves very few organizations unscathed. A deliciously self-aware parody of the modern politico-military thriller, Aim High contrasts the highly skilled, but uniformly ineffective, efforts of a motley unit of military misfits with the hilarious incompetence and neurosis of a troop of lovably inept terrorists who wish to do the American public harm. The result is an easy read that is so comically engaging I found it impossible to put down. I highly recommend this novel to anyone with even the most fleeting interest in the most amusing facets of American politics, American Cold War history, and the contemporary American self-image. Far and away the best book I've read this year!
Being an active-duty servicemember AND also doing healthcare emergency management for a living...all I can say is "Well played, Sir." Couldn't stop laughing as I was reading (folks on my commuter train were giving me strange looks), and I swear I know people that match up well against the characters...
I found it difficult to read at work during my lunch break as my coworkers gave me odd looks when I would break out in bursts of laughter. The seemingly serious plot twists mixed in with character behavior 'oops' moments keeps you turning the page and not wanting to put it down. I read it in less than a week! Buying the next two already.
In an age where political tension can be cut with a knife and everyone is suspect, this book is a great escape from reality. This Monty Python meets Tom Clancy spy parody is one that reflects upon current events in an accurate but comical way, leaving the reader laughing at the antics on both sides of the War on Terror. Just enough detail leaves the reader more time to enjoy a great story instead of trying to figure out background noise often found in most government novels. One must be warned however. To anyone who follows politics, when you're finished reading this book, there might be some concern that what appears to be comical fiction may in reality be comical fact!
Brilliant! Devin Kerins has somehow found a way to mesh the works of Tom Clancy with those of Christopher Moore.

To think that you can find a laugh a page among subject matter including but not limited to terrorist attacks, depression, drug use, release of chemical and biological weapons, hand to hand combat, mental instability, and use of tactical nuclear weapons would be hard to fathom. Yet this book has found a way to do it.

Those who realize that Political Correctness is boring, and fans of dark comedy will truly enjoy this book.

An entertaining must read.

The world can also be thankful that in his spare time, the author has rid the world of the dreaded Asian Longhorn Beetle. What a guy.

Looking forward to part Deux. Fruuuunnnnnkkkkkkuuuuuussssssss!
