At the Spy Pleasure edition by Tina Gabrielle Romance eBooks

Sexy and charming historical romance. I love the way it starts: with Jane, our widowed heroine, making a list of potential lovers who will entertain her in bed, with no strings attached. Gareth, our hero, is a spy and his mission quickly becomes to move up to the top of Jane's list of potential lovers. These two have loads of chemistry and Gabrielle seamlessly intertwines a clever spy plot that kept me guessing. If you enjoy your romance with chemistry and heat, with some intrigue thrown in, this is the book for you! Highly recommend.

At the Spy Pleasure edition by Tina Gabrielle Romance eBooks Reviews

This book is boring and is pretty much a rehash of the last one "A Spy Unmasked." The stories are a bit different but both involved jaded bitter men who are part time barristers and part time spies. They get involved with women who are also rather guarded and not very bright. The attraction is based almost solely on sex. There is minimal character development and secondary characters are entirely one dimensional. The dialogue is twenty-first century which is a major annoyance for me. The transformation of both characters from being opposed to marriage to being committed to it is based solely on her unexpected pregnancy and is so complete and jarring it is unbelievable. Finally, and this isn't the only book this happens in, but aristocratic and upper class men of the era did not participate in their wive's labor and delivery. They didn't even do that well into the 20th century. I'd wish authors would stop using that as a quick, cheap device to demonstrate the men's devotion, strength, fear and forward thinking. It's like the modern dialogue and also very annoying. Most of the author's earlier books were okay to good right through the first two barrister books but I don't think I'll be reading any more of hers.
My favourite story line is when the heroine can look after herself in a fight and wearing trousers! Enjoyed this tale.
The book had a good plot and interestingly written. The characters worked well through the story, but there was not much spying going on.
Very intriguing and very sexy and sweetly romantic. Of course there is a bad guy. Th espy and his lady love are great characters.
I liked this book - but I didn't love it. The book is well written and well paced - although it wrapped a bit too quickly at the end - however, I do appreciate the author not dragging out the heartache.

I really liked Gareth, our hero. He is a barrister and a spy for the crown. He says he is not a gentleman - but actions speak louder than words. He is honorable and has a good heart. He falls in love with Jane - but doesn't want to admit it. He also is keeping secrets from her and it weighs heavily on him.

I really liked Jane until the end of the book. She has not had an easy time since her husband died. She has finally decided to start living again and wants to take a lover. She makes a list and sets out to get her man, Simon Marbury. Who also happens to be the man Gareth is tasked with spying on.

Simon is not a good man and Gareth doesn't want Jane anywhere near him. He convinces Jane to be his lover and the two start a very heated passionate affair.

Things come to a head when Jane catches Gareth going through Simon's desk and demands that he tell her what he is doing. He is unable to tell her and she cuts all ties with him, because she can't be with a man who lies like her late husband did.

A twist in the plot near the end of the book made me lose all respect for Jane - she becomes what she accuses Gareth of being - only worse.

In my opinion she doesn't redeem herself. But we do get a HEA and a very sweet epilogue. As much as I dislike what Jane did at the end - I never doubted the love between these two. I liked the book and would recommend it. And I look forward to the final book in the series.

**i received this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for a honest review**
The basic story was interesting. The sex scenes were unnecessary although consistent with the theme of the book. It was a quick , easy read with good editing. Will probably read more from this series.
